The Food Science Graduate Program at OSU

Food Science is a multi-faceted discipline focused on providing safe, nutritious, high-quality foods to the people of the world. Food Science combines elements of business, biochemistry, chemistry, economics, engineering, microbiology, and physiology within its scope. The interdisciplinary food science graduate program at Oklahoma State University gives students the opportunity to earn both MS and PhD degrees in food science.

Our program is structured to take advantage of the multidisciplinary nature of food science and offers several exciting areas of specialization in which to work. Thanks to the interdisciplinary nature of our program, students are able to access a wide variety of resources to craft programs of study that fit their own particular interests.

Our program relies on the food science expertise of faculty from several participating departments to create a course of studies that may be custom tailored to fit specific career goals. The departments of Agricultural Economics, Animal Science, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering, Horticulture and Landscape Architecture, Nutritional Sciences, and Plant and Soil Sciences have come together to create a dynamic Food Science graduate degree program at OSU with avenues of study as varied as the foods we eat. We invite you to learn how earning a Master's or a Ph.D. degree in Food Science from OSU can open doors of opportunity to a career in today’s vibrant and rapidly growing food industry.
